One Room Challenge: Week Two // Design Plan & DIY Projects

And just like that, we’re already its already Week Two of the One Room Challenge. As a quick reminder, the One Room Challenge is all about transforming a space in six weeks from start to finish and sharing the design process along the way. Every Thursday on my blog for six consecutive weeks, I’m sharing the process of giving my bedroom a complete design makeover. Last week, I shared my thought process for my bedroom re-design and inspiration, along with my weekly Master Bedroom to-do list. In addition to my master bedroom redesign, I’m giving my bathroom a fresh paint, a new shower curtain, and more organization.

MASTER BEDROOM // DESIGN PROGRESS

The first week, there's not a lot of progress in my room, but decisions like paint and hardware have been made. This week I finally decided on the wall color for my master bedroom. I love the color grey and want to go a little deeper with the color scheme. I finally landed on the color Mindful Grey by Sherwin Williams. It’s such a pretty shade of grey and it’s going to look so good! I’m painting my bathroom a deeper shade of grey. All my bedroom trim and doors will be re-painted Swiss Coffee by Kelly Moore. All the painted will be completed this week/weekend!

I created a Master Bedroom floor plan to help me visual my bedroom layout, small tweaks like moving the dresser will be a big improvement design-wise in my bedroom. I made the simple room mock-up using Roomstyler, it was my first time using the software and it turned out pretty good!

Over the weekend the ugly shelves were removed, instantly making my bedroom feel larger. I still can’t believe I thought that was a good idea!

WEEK TWO // PROJECT TO DO LIST

I’m breaking my to-do list up in chunks, that way I don’t feel overwhelmed. All the projects for my bedroom will be worked on after I get home from work and on weekends! It’s going to be a busy few weeks, but I’m up for the challenge! Next week our new bedroom furniture from Scandinavian Designs is arriving and I can’t wait to share the pieces we selected to take our room to the next level! Trust me they are so so good! With the furniture arriving next week, I HAVE TO get my to-do list done.

  • Patch Holes and prep walls for painting

  • Install crown molding // and additional molding TBD?

  • Paint Bedroom and Paint Baseboards and Doors, I have five doors in my small bedroom to paint: Master Bedroom Door, Closet Door, Bathroom Door, and French Doors! (send help)
