Welcome to my blog, KATRINA BLAIR. I'm a wife, mom, interior design and lifestyle blogger, small home design expert, and lover of small old homes. On my blog, Katrina Blair, I showcase living a full life in a small house, sharing with readers how to maximize a small space, with smart design solutions for real life.
Even though small houses create design challenges, Embrace it! I believe small homes create design opportunities to get creative and design a home you love with intention. One of my passions is sharing design ideas to inspire small home dwellers; I started the design series Small Home Style focused on small spaces 101, organization, design tricks, and house tours.
I was born and raised in Northern California, which has influenced my design approach and style. I consider my design style California Modern Casual, an effortless style mix of modern elements with classic lines, a dash of color, lots of grey with a relaxed vibe. And never fussy.
I reside in Sacramento, California, with my husband, our two boys, and adorable lab Oliver in a 1956 Ranch House. My California rancher is just under 1200 square feet, which keeps me on my design toes; re-imagining our spaces to fit my family's ever-changing needs.
You know that old saying goes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade? That was my approach when we spent a year rebuilding our home after a house fire next door spread to our home in the Summer of 2012. It was a stressful season, but my family grew closer. During the rebuilding, we updated our home and made thoughtful design changes to the original floor-plan, including an addition of an indoor laundry room, and expanded our master bedroom to include a master bathroom and walk-in closet.
