This Spring I’ve been kicking off outdoor projects in our backyard earlier. One of my favorite outdoor projects is container gardening. I love filling my patio with plants and adding a mixture of flowers and plants. I consider plants on my patio decor accessories, they enhance the vibe of my outdoor spaces helping to make my outdoor spaces feel like an extension of our home. On my patio, I layer in different style planters, I love the mixture of white, grey, and terra cotta planters.
Below is a view of my patio, last Summer. Inside my planters, I’ve planted: bougainvillea, dwarf lemon tree, hostas, succulents, and much more. When visiting local gardens for plants, I always check the tags and make sure the plants I’m bringing home will thrive in a planter.
I also love the flexibility of container gardening, some plants I’ve tried planting in the ground have never thrived for me, when I’ve placed them in containers they’ve done amazing! Today I’m sharing a roundup of modern planters for container gardening that will help bring your patio to life. Below is shows how I use planters in my outdoor spaces.

The Iris planter is one of my all-time favorite planters, I love it so much, I have two of them! One on my large patio and one on my small patio. I love planting big fluffy leaf plants inside them including especially Japanese Aralia.

I recently added an the Orb Hanging Planter outside my French Doors and love this planter, it’s huge! Anything trailing flowering plant or trailing vine plant would look so good planted inside!
