Last week I shared our finished bookcases, I’m still in awe of how amazing they turned out. Our bookcase project was one of my favorite DIYs to date. Now that we have wall to wall bookcases, I needed to rethink our side table lamp situation in one of the corners in my living room. Previously I had Parsons style side tables that never felt quite right for the area, I did a side table swap with our bedroom Mid Century Modern side tables, and swap looks so good!
But with the addition of our bookcases, I having a table in front of the doors wasn’t an option #SmallHouseProblems

I love having multiple lighting sources and having a light in this corner is a must to help balance the artwork on the wall. When I first started looking at floor lamps, I had my heart set on a drum style floor lamp. I found an amazing one, ordered it and quickly sent it back. I’m so glad I did! It made me realize a task style lamp is much better suited in my living room and it doesn’t block the view of our bookcases. I've learned over the years not to force design, if something doesn't feel right, return it, sell it, send it back.

I restarted my search and found an incredible light that checked off all the boxes on my list: the right scale, great Mid Century Modern vibe, and pretty brushed gold finish. It’s such a pretty floor lamp, the arm moves up and down, and the lamp head also moves. Below you can see how this little corner in my living room looks with and without a lamp. I love how subtle it feels and doesn't visually crowd the space like a drum shade in the vingette would.

Modern Floor Lamp

I love all the little design details that make up this floor lamp, bonus it's so pretty in the evening. This floor lamp is from Target, part of the Project 62 line, right now it's on sale for under $40 bucks. My local Target had none in stock, I placed my order on Friday, and it arrived Monday, plus shipping was free! The Cantilever floor lamp feels and looks well made, and the base is nice and stable. I’m so happy with this find!
