Decking Our Halls with Color

For our Christmas decorations this year I wanted to take a colorful approach with a mixture of fresh winter greenery by using lots of wreaths and garland in our home inside and out! Lets begin our Christmas tour with the front of our home. I'm still head over heels in love with painting our front door a shade of Chartreuse and knew it would look perfect paired with a fresh green wreath & simple green ribbon finished off with a bow. I bought one spool of 2 inch wide ribbon from Walmart for only $1.79, and used a cream plastic wreath holder concealed with ribbon.

I found the pretty wreath at Lowes and added a few left over sprigs of greenery from our Thanksgiving centerpiece to add little more texture. I wanted to keep the outside of our house festive and simple, so I left the wreath and garland bring all the Holiday Cheer In.

For the first time ever, we added Christmas light outside, loving the happy glow it brings to our outside, I hope to get a good picture of our house at night and share on Instragram. If your on Instragram follow me @mrsclh

Last year we had our first real live Christmas tree, and planned on getting another one. However I ended up wining the Oh Christmas tree from Treetopia along with two wreaths thanks to the fabulous giveaway hosted by Jennifer at Rambling Renovators. I love this tree, its so pretty and so realistic looking, and the wreaths are so pretty! For our Christmas tree this year we decided to bring on the color and lots of it! I found fun colorful ornaments at Target, along with colorful ornaments I bought last year from Land of Nod in an after Christmas sale.

In our living room we hung of our wreaths in our window, I love all the color it adds in our living room. I love colorful felt ball garland and decided to add some hanging garlands to our window. I found the felt balls via Etsy seller Yummi, I ordered 50 and loved them so much decided to order 50 more. I strung the felt balls together using embroidery thread and an upholstery needle.

I hung fresh garland in the doorway between our living room and dining / kitchen. I love how the wreath frames the garland, adding more color and merry in our home.

I found this colorful tinsel garland at Target and love how colorful and fun it was and decided to place it a bowl as a centerpiece for our dining room table. I also have a bowl full of tinsel garland on our coffee table.

Here's a picture of Avery and I hanging more ornaments on the tree Sunday morning [I shared this picture on Instagram] This year I sat back and watched Tabari and Avery decorate the tree, loved how pretty and colorful our tree came out.

Even though our tree is up and decorated and garland is decking our halls we still have more Christmas decorations to put up. Namely our stockings and more wreaths around our house and bringing in Christmas cheer in the kids rooms. I'll share more Holiday decorations as its completed on the blog.

What do you think our Color-fulled Holiday decor so far? Have you started decking your halls with Christmas?
