Hello, I'm Katrina! Welcome to my blog, Chic Little House. I'm a Northern California native living in Sacramento with my husband and two sons. We bought our 1956 rancher in 2009 and quickly began renovating every square inch of it.
When I see a pretty space that I love, my heart beats a little happier with joy. I love to create and surround myself with pretty things. My goal is to share my love of DIY, design, creating and all things home in hopes that it will encourage and inspire others to stir up their own passion and creativity.
In July of 2012 our home was badly damaged in a fire displacing my family for a year. With determination, faith and patience, our family took a sour situation, turned it around and rebuilt a home we absolutely love. During the rebuilding of our home, we made thoughtful improvements to the original layout, while maintaining the charm that originally 'sold' us on our home. Now that we’re back in our home, I'm always juggling multiple projects. I believe that you can create a lovely, unique home on a budget that reflects your personality and speaks to you. As the saying goes, your home should rise up to greet you and make your family and friends feel good when they walk into the door.
Our home has been featured in several newspapers and magazines (HGTV Magazine and This Old House to name a few), and we appeared on The Nate Berkus Show for their House Proud segment sharing with viewers creative budget friendly ideas to incorporate into their home. I also collaborate with The Home Depot teaching in-store DIY workshops across the country. For more information, please visit our press page.
My family has faced highs and lows and has even been 'through the fire' together. We always remember to appreciate the sunshine and celebrate life even when battling the rain. Please join me on our house to home journey!
