A few months ago, I treated myself to a label maker, and not I can’t stop gushing about how amazing it is! I seriously wish I would have gotten one years ago! I originally bought the label maker to label file folders and thought, bonus points if I use it elsewhere.
I looked online and found a label maker at a good price and had great reviews, I ended up with the DYMO Label Maker. I love my label maker! I really like this label maker is very easy to use, you can change the font size, change between title case to all uppercase. bold the font, and use special character lots of bells and whistles at a great price. Depending on the size font that you use, you can add a second line which is very helpful!. Today I’m sharing Five Creative Uses for a label maker.
FIVE CREATIVE USES FOR A LABEL MAKER
ONE: LABELING PAINT CANS // Like most DIYers we have a lot of paint cans we store in the garage on a shelf. I’ve noticed over time the paint color label information fades making it hard to find the right paint to grab for a quick touch-up. It’s happened to me before, I’ve grabbed the wrong paint color unable to clearly read the color and opened the lid and everything looked close enough until it dried!
SOLUTION use your label maker to add a cleanly typed label on your paint can lid and add one to the front of your paint can. We stack our paint cans, which leads to me dig through all my cans, looking for the right color. You can also add a label stating which room the color was used in! #TimeSaver
TWO: LABEL BINS. CRAFT POUCHES & PANTRY ITEMS // In my cottage she shed, I added labels to my metal bins, before adding labels I was constantly looking inside because I quickly forgot what was in there. These metal bins have a divider, I labeled both sections to keep everything organized. I’ve also labeled my craft pouches, these pouches are great for holding art supplies, kids’ pencils and belonging, paperwork and so much more! Of course, you can also use your label maker to label spices, pantry items etc
THREE: LABEL YOUR LEFTOVERS // There have been so many times, I’ve reached for leftovers in the fridge and asked myself, when did I make this or when did we bring food home? Quickly labeling the food item + date made/order helps take the mystery out. It’s also a good reminder to eat that before it goes bad!
FOUR: LABEL YOUR KIDS ITEMS // I’ve always been god about label my boy’s jackets, and backpacks, but recently realized how much more labeling I need to do! Now he has so much extra ‘school stuff’ at home. We’re currently navigating a hybrid distance learning + childcare a few days a week for Avery on the days I’m in the office. He’s constantly shuffling more back and forth between home and childcare (he’s able to do distance learning at childcare, very grateful) I’ve now made sure all his school supplies are labeled included his Chromebook, workbooks, headphones, pencil cases, and books he takes to childcare.
FIVE: LABEL YOUR FAMILY PHOTOS // I’m used to handwriting on the back of the photo but over time your handwriting smudges and fades making it hard to figure out who was in the photo and the date is was taken. I’ve now been working through family photos, travel photos, and labeling them! Going forward photos I mail my parents and Hasani’s of the kids will have a label, so much easier!
