Five True-Crime Podcasts, I Can't Get Enough Of

Do you listen to Podcasts? I started listening to Podcasts here and there a few years ago, but mostly business-related podcasts. That all changed last year when a friend recommended the Bear Brook Podcast to me and I was hooked on True Crime Podcasts. Since I was in my teens, I’ve been the girl to watch 20/20, Dateline, and Unsolved Mysteries. Unsolved Mysteries used to FREAK me out, big time. I think it had to do with the host’s voice + him walking through a graveyard, like wHY?!? What I like about True-Crime podcasts, is how the host(s) tells the story of the victim and unfolds the crime in an earnest way of wanting to help solve these mysteries and ease the pain the victim’s families have experience.

Funny enough, I mostly listen to True-Crime Podcasts when I’m working on DIY Projects or Driving to work. It’s that little quiet time, I have to listen and really focus on the narrator.

Today I’m sharing my favorite True-Crime podcasts I can’t get enough of and kept me on the edge of my seat as the story unfold. Some of the podcasts I’m sharing, I’ve already listened to and finished and a few are ongoing True-Crime Podcasts with new stories every week.

FIVE TRUE-CRIME PODCASTS, I CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF

  • BEAR BROOK

The story unfolds in a small town neighboring the Bear Brook State Park in New Hampshire, where three bodies are discovered in the 1980s, possibly linked to a serial killer. It’s a perfect detailed PodCast that stirs so many emotions from anger to tears.

  • ALREADY GONE

Shares weekly stories of True-Crime, some unsolved and some solved. What I find most interesting about this podcast is the setting; the narrator Nina focuses all her stories on crimes that happened in and around her home state of Michigan. Making each case near and dear to heart and wanting justice for the victim

  • SERIAL: Season One

I discovered Serial Season One over the Summer, and I was instantly hooked; the storytelling was amazing. The story centers around two High School students in the late 1990s who used to date Adnan Syed and Hae Min Lee. Both students are popular and come from vastly different home lives; they fall in and out of love several times, then one day Hae Min Lee goes missing. The polices, number one, suspects her ex-boyfriend; the story takes many twists and turns.

  • YOUR OWN BACKYARD PODCAST

This podcast takes you back to the late 1990s in a college town in Central California, where Kristen Smart was a freshman and disappears on her way from a party to her dorm room. The campus cops initially think she forgot to tell her parents and roommate she was staying elsewhere the weekend. Days go by, and no word from Kristen; she’s finally reported missing, and the mystery of what happened to her that night seems to only point to one suspect.

  • THE TRAIL WENT COLD

This podcast takes a deeper dive into episodes of Unsolved Mysteries, including updates on episodes. Each episode is stand-alone and pretty interesting. It’s pretty interesting. I enjoy this podcast, considering how much the show freaked me out as a kid.
