Hello! Sorry for the radio silence on the blog, on the home front I’ve been working on the finishing touches on our built-in bookcases (check out a significant sneak peek here) there’s about 5% left to do, touch-up paint and adding hardware. I've also been working on finishing up our wall to wall shelves we added to our bedroom, read more about the project here. For all my new readers, I started the blog series Small Home Style to help fellow small home dwellers with design ideas to help maximize their small spaces and tackle design dilemmas.
Now that our living room built-ins are almost finished, I've been thinking a lot about different lighting solutions, I'm a huge fan of layering lighting in a living room, in our living room we have recessed lights, a center light fixture (on a dimmer) and table lamps. Multiple lighting sources add ambiance to a room, especially in the evenings.
However, in a small living room depending on the size and layout floor space can be a premium There’s not always room for a side table plus lamp combination or even enough space for a floor lamp.
So what do you when you still want to create ambiance with lighting, but there's no room for a side table + lamp? My favorite lighting alternative to lamps, are adding sconces in a living room. Wall Sconces aren't just for the bedroom, kitchen or hallway use them in your living room. I love the classic element Sconces add in the living room below.
