Master Bathroom Part 2 | Bathroom Reveal

As I mentioned earlier this month, I partnered with 1StopLighting.com to give my small master bathroom a refresh. For a long time, it felt like my bathroom was stuck at a midway point and had no clear design direction and while I liked the main bathroom elements, subway tile in the shower and hex tile on the floors and bathroom vanity. Overall everything felt flat. I love pretty lighting and knew finding the perfect bathroom vanity lighting would help give the entire room an updated look.

After putting looking at bathroom lighting ideas on 1StopLighting.com I was able to narrow down the style I had in mind, a modern gold light fixture. I love how easy is to navigate their site and filter down to the light fixture style you had in mind. In addition to offering amazing lighting deals, they also have a large selection of mirror styles. I put together a few lighting and mirror combinations, which help me create the design plan for my bathroom, read more about my design plan here

DESIGN ELEMENTS

Here’s a quick recap of my bathroom design plans, update lighting, mirror, and bathroom hardware. Paint the bathroom vanity black and add trim on the drawers to create more depth, in addition, freshen room up with paint and a new shower curtain and new bathroom hardware.

I’m so excited to share how my updated Master Bathroom and how we tackled this project on a budget! I can’t get over how incredible my bathroom feels and looks, it went from so-so to inviting and feeling more luxe! I’m so excited to share the process of transforming this little space. Here’s a quick reminder of how my bathroom looked. Not bad, but in real life felt like a snoozefest.

To give my bathroom vanity more depth, I added 1x2 lattice on the flat panel drawers giving the appearance of shaker style. This is a great way to add visual interest on otherwise boring drawers. I used wood filler to fill in the gaps of the wood trim and also filled the holes in the old cabinet hardware.

Next, I tapped off the area in my bathroom and painted the cabinet Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams, I used to paint in one primer. Although I love grey cabinets, this color felt off in my bathroom and I knew going with black cabinets would help ground the area and create depth in this small bathroom. I gave my vanity three coats of paint, lightly sanded before each coat and waiting for 24 hrs before applying the last coat of paint.

We made a 12th-hour decision to replace the old vanity top with a pretty stunning Scintillante Bianco Polished Marble. The new counter is amazing, it has a clean white background with flecks of grey throughout and almost sparkles. Next, my husband installed the new bathroom faucet. I love mixing metals and adore the look of polished chrome paired with the gold elements in my bathroom.

After the sink and vanity were completed, Hasani installed the new light fixture. The light is incredible and feels modern and gives off the amazing light! I love how it looks paired with the gold mirror, also from 1StopLighting. I’m waiting for one key element in my bathroom to arrive, the new roman shade. I went back and forth between a natural roman shade and a fabric woven shade, I ultimately decided on a simple natural shade that will complement the woven baskets in my bathroom. below is a closer look.

I adore the gold glided mirror, the curve is so pretty! I should mention the mirror is very heavy and a two person job in install.

I love the gold matte light fixture, it feels modern and polished, I also love the generous size of the shades. When it comes to bathroom lighting, I'm all about frosted glass. It's so easy on the eyes. We also installed a swing-out vanity mirror! Perfect for shaving, applying makeup and doing my eyebrows.

Next week, I'm sharing how I organized my small master bathroom to make it more efficient for my husband and myself, plus breaking the budget down!  What do you think of my bathroom update? What room in your home needs a lighting refresh?

Master Bathroom Part 1 | Design Plans

One of my home goals this year is giving spaces in my home that are underutilized a refresh and making them beautiful and functional. One my list of rooms to tackle is my master bathroom, design and storage-wise my bathroom has been feeling extremely flat. A few years ago, I painted the vanity grey, added a pretty mirror yet it still felt incomplete. While I love the bones of my master bathroom (classic subway tile, penny tile on floors, nice vanity), I feel like it has been stuck in a mid-way point with no design direction, no practical storage and bathroom fixtures that feel and look basic.

I’m working with 1StopLighting.com to give my bathroom a refresh complete. I'm so excited about partnering with 1StopLighting, they offer a huge selection of lighting for the entire home both interior and exterior. They aim to provide customers with an amazing shopping experience, in fact, each one of their Customer Service Associates is trained and certified by the American Lighting Association. I also love that 1StopLighting is headquartered in Sacramento, giving me all the feels! I should also mention they ship to Canda, my Candian friends will be happy to know there are no taxes and duties to pay!

Here’s how my bathroom currently looks, it's like a Monet of the bathrooms, looks great in pictures, but in real life, its always felt so flat to me. I love the style of my vanity, its perfect for our small bathroom. One of the features I love most is the open bottom shelf; it's a great design element giving us extra storage space for towels and bedding.

What doesn’t make me happy is the vanity color, it feels all wrong and too flat for my bathroom. I’m so excited to get started in my bathroom refresh, below is my bathroom inspiration.

As I mentioned, I am updating the lighting and bathroom mirror; I put together a few lighting and mirror combinations to help me visualize the and nail down I wanted in my master bathroom. What lighting and mirror combinations are you loving below?

I’m so excited to share my design plans to transform my basic bathroom into a little retreat for my husband and myself. The plan is to create a Calfornia Modern Casual bathroom, a bathroom that leans towards the minimalist side with clean lines while still feeling welcoming.

I'm obsessed with the mirror and lighting combination I selected for the bathroom, I love that these two elements will add impact in my small bathroom. Remember never underestimates the power of an amazing light fixture.

I plan on painting my bathroom vanity black and adding trim to the cabinet drawers to create shaker style look. In addition, I will be mixing metals. I love the idea of pairing tones of Gold tones with Polished Silver, I think both finishes will play off each other nicely. My bathroom is small, so it's crucial I use every inch of my space wisely and sneak-in storge in a clever way without losing the look I'm going for.

Here's a quick recap of my bathroom refresh plans: New Light Fixture, New Mirror, New Bathroom, and Hardware (pulls, towel bar, robe & towel hooks) creating an organization in the vanity drawers, installing new roman shade, painting the bathroom vanity black and adding trim to the vanity doors.

Two things I'm still deciding on is adding a small shelf below our bathroom mirror, to help keep my beauty products better organized and free up counter space. I'm also considering adding an extendable mirror in our bathroom, I'm not a huge makeup person, But I can so see this mirror coming in handy for Hasani when shaving and myself for applying mascara! The design jury is still out, but I do love how practical they both are.

We're tackling this project on a budget and tight timeline! We plan to have our bathroom refresh completed this month. Yes, friends this month! Over the next several weeks I will share bathroom updates on Instagram Stories if you not following me on Instagram you should be, find me on Instagram @TheKatrinaBlair  I'm so excited to finally transform my bathroom and take it from the mid-way point of feeling so-so to transforming into a little retreat for my husband and myself.  A few of my bathroom selections arrived yesterday evening and I'm so excited to share!
